Probably not the right way to do it but I crochet a number of chains at a time leaving long ends and then just sew them on to the lining and face fabric as required.

I know it's not the right way to do it but I "waste" a lot of cotton but save a lot of time and run a length of rolled hem thread off my overlocker, cut 6" lengths and couple of seconds to undo each end to thread needle and bob's your uncle. Works for me

I was thinking of doing that - as some of you know I am struggling to master the technique, in fact having bought my crochet hook I still can't do it and after wasting an hour and half on Friday afternoon gave up - quicker for me just to interlock!

I do it basically the same way but with my fingers - i hold the loop open with thumb & second finger and grab the thread with my first finger and pull it through. The first loop then drops down as a chain and.. I can't believe how daft this sounds so I am not going to carry on!!!
